As we gather around the table this Thanksgiving, many of us will take a moment to reflect on the blessings that fill our lives—family, friends, health, and the abundance of food. But for those of us striving to live out our Christian faith and leave a legacy that honors God, Thanksgiving offers a special opportunity to consider not only the blessings we’ve received but also the legacy we are building for future generations.
Thanksgiving: A Legacy Rooted in Gratitude
At its core, Thanksgiving is a time to express gratitude, a virtue that Scripture calls us to cultivate throughout our lives. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul encourages believers: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Gratitude is not just a seasonal practice; it is a lifelong habit that honors God. As we pause this season to give thanks, we are reminded that even in difficult seasons, God is at work in our lives, shaping us for His purposes and inviting us to acknowledge His goodness.
A Christian legacy is one built upon gratitude—not only for the blessings we have but also for the trials that refine us. Each moment of grace, whether easy or hard, is an opportunity to leave a legacy of faith, hope, and trust in God’s sovereignty.

In John 13:14-15, He washed His disciples’ feet and said, “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”
