Generosity is a lifestyle we talk much about and hope many more people will adapt in 2016 and in coming years. We believe it’s a worthy goal along with a great many of other aspirations such as eating healthier, exercising more, keeping a better budget, reading the Bible more faithfully — or finally cleaning out the garage!
While there are many techniques we can use in accomplishing our goals, without an underlying confidence that we will actually meet them, all goals we resolve to accomplish in the new year are doomed to failure from the beginning.
As we begin 2016 with a clean slate and a fresh start, let’s also start the year a renewed confidence — a confidence that we will actually make significant progress this year, but not in our own strength, nor in the achievements of those who have gone before us (although their examples can be quite an encouragement).
Let’s have full confidence in Christ alone knowing that we can and must fully trust “Him who is able to keep [us] from stumbling and will present [us] blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy (Jude 1:24).
If the beginning of 2016 finds you searching for a renewed confidence for the upcoming year, we hope you will be encouraged by the truth of this Scripture and the power and grace of a God who is both able and willing.
Have a blessed 2016!
