The month of July has a couple of significant holidays about freedom worth celebrating. But while we’re reminded of the incredible blessing of living in a country where freedom is possible, there are other freedoms that are often overlooked. Like the freedom to give.
What does true freedom look like? Beyond political liberty, God calls us to experience spiritual and financial freedom—freedom that enables us to live generously and leave a legacy that reflects His Kingdom.
In Galatians 5:13, Paul writes, “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” This verse reminds us that God grants us freedom for a purpose. As Christian stewards, we are free not just from sin and debt but also for the purpose of making an eternal impact.
Freedom to Give and Generosity Go Hand-in-Hand
Many of us know the weight of financial obligations. Debt and mismanagement can hold us back from fully stepping into God’s call to be generous. But when we seek financial health—living within our means, planning wisely, and seeking godly counsel—we are freed to bless others abundantly.
Generosity is a powerful expression of gratitude for God’s provision. When you give to support ministries, nonprofits, and individuals in need, you are advancing God’s Kingdom work in ways you might never fully see this side of heaven. And the legacy of that generosity lives on in transformed lives.
Freedom to Give: Building a Legacy That Outlasts You
A godly legacy doesn’t happen by accident; it requires prayer, planning, and intentionality. At Stewardship Legacy Coaching, we love helping families create plans that not only provide for their loved ones but also impact the causes closest to their hearts.
This might look like:
- Designating charitable gifts in your estate plan.
- Partnering with nonprofits you trust, both now and in your planned giving.
- Teaching your children and grandchildren the joy of generosity, modeling a lifestyle of giving that reflects Christ.
Leaving a legacy is about more than money. It’s about passing on your values, your faith, and your heart for God’s work.
Freedom to Give: A Practical Next Step
If you’ve never considered how your current financial plan reflects your Kingdom values, now is the perfect time. Ask yourself:
- Does my plan show my family what matters most to me?
- Am I using my financial freedom to serve God’s purposes?
- Are there opportunities to bless ministries and nonprofits in ways I haven’t explored yet?
Our team at Stewardship Legacy Coaching would be honored to help you think through these questions and develop a plan that aligns with your heart for God and His people.
As the month of July ends, and as you celebrate the freedom we enjoy as Americans, remember that your ultimate freedom is in Christ. Let that freedom inspire you to live generously and to leave a legacy that tells the world of His goodness.
